Thesis Project -  “Lou” educates elementary school children about child abuse and neglect. Washoe County schools have implemented programs with minimal and vague guidelines, leaving gaps in education. “Lou” provides structured resources that any teacher can easily integrate into the classroom. The program includes a book and engaging activity cards to capture children’s attention. A key focus was avoiding harsh language throughout the project, so parents can feel comfortable with their child’s learning while preserving their innocence.

Design Thinking: The design focused on being colorful, playful, and impactful. This was achieved through fun, unique shapes and soft, inviting colors that feel safe, with no outlines or black used throughout. The characters give the brand its own identity and bring it to life. Elements and shapes from Lou’s body are incorporated throughout the design, creating cohesion and reinforcing the brand’s personality.
